Have you wanted to learn how to do upholstery but don’t know where to begin?
I started my upholstery journey almost 14 years ago. I signed up for an upholstery class through the extension office in Wichita KS. I had been sewing my whole life so this felt like something I would enjoy. I quickly became obsessed and this is how my upholstery journey began.
I moved to Colorado a few years later so I lost my in-person upholstery classes. I started searching for upholstery classes online and I came across Kim’s Upholstery. I was so excited to find upholstery education online. The thought of being able to continue to learn and expand my upholstery skills was just what I was looking for. I was still learning so having online classes helped me expand my skills.
I joined Kim’s membership and continued to build my upholstery skills. Having her classes at home gave me the confidence that I could tackle any project. If I was working on a piece I could access her online classes and get the help I needed to get me through my project. Over the past 7 years, Kim and I have become good friends. She has been to Colorado 3 times to teach in-person workshops in Castle Rock.
It has been my dream to start teaching in-person upholstery workshops in addition to doing custom work for clients. I have a passion for everything upholstery and I want to share that with students who want to learn the trade. I feel like I have a lot to share with over 50 years of sewing experience and 14 years of doing upholstery. Kim has graciously offered to collaborate with me to help make it happen. Students that sign up for an in-person workshop with me will also receive a discount coupon to get started with their online upholstery education through Kim’s Upholstery. This is a great way to make sure students are successful.
Collaborating with Kim is a dream come true. This is a great way for students to have online classes where they can view the steps for their upholstery piece. When they get to the workshop they will already have an understanding of the process and steps they’ll be doing at the workshop. It gives students an understanding of the upholstery process and then you get to put those skills to use at the workshop.
If you are looking to learn upholstery so you can do pieces for your own home or you’re thinking about starting a business. I hope this gives you the courage to make the leap and try your hand at upholstery. Kim and I would love to help you get started on your upholstery journey. I have 2022 workshops posted on my website. Let me know if you have any questions.
