The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.~BB KIng
The 2023 workshops are going to be great. I have all the details for each workshop posted on My website’s The Whimsical Chair Workshop page. The two-day workshops are for anyone looking to add or refine new upholstery skills. We can talk about what project you want to bring to the workshop. It can be a beginner project like an ottoman, dining seats, or small chair. If you already have experience, you may want to advance your upholstery skills with some hands-on instruction. I can help you with skills like spring tying or cushions. I’m happy to customize these workshops to fit your specific upholstery education goals.
I had four all-about leather workshops in 2022. They were such a success I’ve added them again for 2023. The first leather workshop is at my workroom in Castle Rock, CO, April 20-22,2023. All workshops are limited to four students for individual attention. Students will learn everything they need to start their leather upholstery journey. Each student provides their own chair for the workshop. The leather for the workshop can be purchased through Crest Leather. I will assist students with this process. If you have your own leather hides, you are welcome to bring it to the workshop. It needs to be approved ensure it will work for the workshop. You can see all the details on my website. I’m happy to answer any questions before you sign up.
I’ll be heading to Workroom Tech in Tryon, NC. July 26-28, 2023, to teach a leather workshop. Thank you to Susan Woodcock for this opportunity. The sign-up for this workshop is listed on The Whimsical Chair Workshop page. We will have some special guests at this workshop. Carla with Crest Leather will be talking to students about their leather hides. We will also have a special treat. Donna from Donna Scott Johnson Designs will be joining us. She will have samples of her leather embroidery projects. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and expand your mind on what you can create with leather. As an add-on to this great workshop, we will take a field trip to Sandhurst Leatherwork. He specializes in saddlery and has a nice workshop; this is about 5 minutes from Workroom Tech. You can see his work on Facebook.
I’m excited to help you get started or advance your upholstery skills in 2023. I love teaching upholstery and watching students gain confidence in new skills. I hope you will check out my website and all the workshop options. I’m always happy to answer any questions before you sign up for a workshop.
